What is zamak?

Zamak is a Zinc based alloy (95%), Aluminum (4%), Magnesium and (K) Copper (1%). Hence its name
Z.A.MA.K. This alloy has a density of 6.7 kg / dm³, closer to steel (7.5) than aluminum (2.7). In addition to the fact that its melting temperature is quite low (+/- 450 ° C), hence its capacity to be diecasted, zamak has very homogeneous properties:

• A breaking load of 300 to 450 MPa,
• Elongations of 6 to 8%,
• Excellent impact resistance (10 to 12 daJ cm2),
• Good thermal conductivity
Finally, zamak is amagnetic and its chemical purity promotes the constancy of its properties.
